I have only recently joined e-bay auctions (about a month ago), but already am pleased with the service and both the items I have purchased and the sellers I have purchased them from.

Another handy point about e-bay is the e-mail service, which lets you know if an item you are watching is ending soon, or if you have been outbid or have won an auction. Payment methods are determined by the seller, so vary, but I have paid all of my sellers by postal order so far, which seems to be a widely accepted method of payment, as do personal cheques. Some sellers take credit cards, but not all.
